Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 September 2026
This policy explains how Skwad (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the Skwad app and website (the “Service”). Where the law of the country you live in gives you stronger rights than this policy describes, those rights apply and nothing here limits them.
1. Who we are
We run the Service described here and decide what personal data is collected and why. For any privacy question, contact us at support@skwadfc.com.
2. Data we collect
You give us
- Account details — your phone number, name, profile photo, and city.
- Content — matches you create or join, RSVPs, in-match chat messages, and the ratings and reports you submit.
Other players give us
- Ratings they give you after matches, and any reports they make about you.
Collected automatically
- Usage and device data — app activity, device type, crash data, and push notification tokens.
- Approximate location — used to show games and venues near you, only if you allow it. You control location permissions in your device settings, and the app works without them.
3. How we use your data, and why we are allowed to
- To run the Service (matches, rosters, waitlists, chat, and notifications), because this is needed to provide the Service you signed up for.
- To show you games and venues near you, based on your consent to location access, which you can withdraw at any time in your device settings.
- To calculate ratings and reputation from post-match reviews, because this is a core part of the Service.
- To keep the community safe, including reviewing reports and enforcing our Terms, based on our legitimate interest in keeping players safe.
- To improve the app and fix problems, based on our legitimate interest in running a reliable Service.
- To send push notifications, based on your consent, which you can turn off in your device settings.
4. Verification by WhatsApp or SMS
We verify your phone number with a one-time code sent over WhatsApp or SMS through our verification provider. Your number is processed to deliver that code and to secure your account. If you choose WhatsApp, the message is also handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy policy.
5. Who we share it with
- Other players — your name, photo, and aggregate ratings are visible to people in matches you join, and your chat messages are visible to others in that match. Individual ratings and reviews are shown without identifying who gave them. We do not show your phone number to other players.
- Service providers — companies that run parts of the Service on our behalf, such as hosting and database, phone verification, push notifications, and crash reporting. They act on our instructions and are required to protect your data.
- Legal reasons — where required by law, or where needed to protect the rights and safety of our users, the public, or us.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run advertising.
6. Retention
We keep your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time in the app under More → Settings → Delete account, or by emailing us. When you do, we delete your profile and personal data, or anonymise it, within 30 days. Matches you played in remain as a record for the other players, with nothing that identifies you. We may keep limited information for longer where we need it for safety reasons (for example, reports about serious misconduct) or to meet legal obligations, and copies may remain in backups for a short period before being overwritten.
7. Where your data is held
The Service runs on infrastructure provided by third parties, and your data may be stored or processed in a country other than the one you live in. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards that applicable law requires for such transfers.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, receive a copy in a portable format, restrict or object to how we use it, and withdraw consent where our use depends on consent. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@skwadfc.com. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the data protection authority in the country you live in.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
Skwad is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service, as set out in our Terms. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is significant, we will let you know in the app before it takes effect.
12. Contact
